Online Personal Training for Weight Loss

Lose weight. Get stronger. Feel like yourself again.

A smarter approach to weight loss after 50

If you’re over 50 and struggling to lose weight, you’re not alone.

You don’t need another restrictive diet, exhausting workout plan, or quick-fix program. You need an approach that understands your body now—and a coach who knows how to help you get results.

Weight loss after 50 can feel different. Your muscle mass, recovery, stress, lifestyle and priorities may have changed. What worked in your 30s may not work the same way today.

That doesn’t mean your body is working against you.

It means your strategy needs to change.

Your first session is free.

Why weight loss can feel different after 50

Maybe you’ve done this before.

You know how to lose weight. You’ve followed diets, counted calories, exercised more, or simply “tried harder.” And maybe those approaches worked for a while.

But your body and your life aren’t the same as they were 20 or 30 years ago.

As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and may become less active. Recovery can take longer, and stress, sleep and hormones can affect how you feel and function.

That can make the old approach to weight loss feel harder—and often less sustainable.

The answer isn’t to restrict more, exercise harder, or blame your body.

It’s to understand what your body needs now and build a strategy that supports fat loss, strength, muscle and long-term health at the same time.

Weight Loss, Done Differently

Why my approach helps you lose weight—and keep your strength

Build strength

Strength training is essential.

When you lose weight, the goal is to lose body fat—not the muscle that keeps you strong, capable and independent.

Your training is designed to help you build and maintain muscle while improving your overall fitness and body composition.

Look at the whole picture

Your weight is only one part of the equation.

We consider your movement, nutrition, lifestyle, energy, stress, recovery and goals to understand what may be getting in the way of progress.

Because effective coaching starts with understanding you, not simply giving you a program.

Get coached

Knowing what to do is one thing. Following through is another.

I’ll coach you, adjust your plan as you progress, help you navigate challenges and keep you moving forward when motivation inevitably fluctuates.

You don’t have to figure it all out yourself.

Make it real

Your life doesn’t stop because you’re trying to lose weight.

Dinners out, holidays, travel, weekends and busy weeks are part of life.

Your approach needs to work with your life—not require you to put your life on hold.

It’s about more than losing weight

Over the years, I’ve noticed something again and again with my clients.

They may come to me because they want to lose weight. They want to feel better in their clothes, lose the extra 10 or 15 pounds, or simply feel more comfortable in their body.

But somewhere along the way, something bigger starts to happen.

They get stronger.

They notice they can carry things more easily. They have more energy. They’re moving with more confidence. They’re getting down on the floor and back up again without thinking twice about it.

And slowly, the conversation changes.

It’s no longer just about the weight.

It’s about being able to play golf, get out on the tennis court, hike with friends, play with the grandkids, travel comfortably, or lift the heavy things around the house without having to think, “Can I still do that?”

This is one of the things that brings me so much joy in my work—supporting people to feel better in their bodies so they can better enjoy the lives they’re already living.

And the stronger and more capable you become, the more freedom you have to keep doing the things that matter to you.

Weight loss may be where you start, but feeling strong, capable and confident in your body is what can give you so much more.

Hi, I'm Katie

I’ve been helping people feel stronger, healthier and better in their bodies for more than 25 years.

Over the past three decades, I’ve had the privilege of supporting more than 200 clients to lose weight, build strength and feel better in their bodies.

I’m a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and personal trainer, with more than 25 years of experience coaching movement and strength and 18+ years of running my own practice.

Over those years, I’ve seen what works. I’ve seen what doesn’t. And I’ve learned that lasting change isn’t about finding another perfect diet or pushing yourself harder.

It’s about understanding what your body needs now, having a strategy that fits your life, and having the right support to actually follow through.

My approach brings together strength training, movement, nutrition and personalized coaching to help you lose weight while maintaining the strength and muscle that become increasingly important as we age.

But perhaps most importantly, I get to know you.

Your goals. Your body. Your challenges. Your life.

Because when we work together one-to-one, I’m not simply giving you a program and sending you on your way.

I’m there with you—coaching you, adjusting your program, helping you navigate the inevitable challenges and keeping you accountable.

And that’s what I love about this work: helping people feel stronger and more capable so they can keep enjoying the life they love.

Weight Loss Personal Training — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still lose weight after 50?

Absolutely. Your body is still capable of losing body fat, building muscle and getting stronger after 50.

What may need to change is how you approach weight loss. As we get older, things like muscle mass, hormones, activity levels, recovery, sleep and stress can influence how our bodies respond. The strategies that worked in your 30s or 40s may simply not work the same way now.

I see this with my clients all the time. They come to me frustrated because what used to work no longer seems to work.

When we shift the focus to strength training, practical nutrition and a plan that fits their life, things begin to change. They lose body fat, get stronger, have more energy and feel more confident in their bodies.

So yes—you can absolutely lose weight after 50.

Do I have to follow a strict diet to lose weight?

No. My approach is not about restrictive diets or drastic changes.

Nutrition is an important part of weight loss, and we will make changes to your eating habits—but gradually, in a way that feels realistic and sustainable for you.

Rather than trying to overhaul everything at once, we focus on small, meaningful changes that build over time and make a real difference. You’ll learn how to make choices that support your goals while still enjoying food and living your life.

Because I believe lasting weight loss comes from creating habits you can actually maintain—not following a perfect plan for a few weeks.

Why is strength training important for weight loss after 50?

Because losing weight isn’t just about weighing less—it’s about keeping your body strong while you do it.

As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass, which can affect our strength, physical capacity and ability to do the things we enjoy.

Strength training helps you build and maintain muscle while reducing body fat, so you’re improving your body composition rather than simply chasing a number on the scale.

And the benefits go well beyond weight loss.

Getting stronger makes everyday life easier. It can help you carry groceries, lift things around the house, climb stairs, play golf or tennis, travel, hike and keep doing the activities you love with confidence.

That’s why strength training is such an important part of my approach to weight loss after 50.

What if I’ve never exercised before—or I’m really out of shape?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need to be fit before you start personal training.

Your program begins where you are right now. We’ll start at a level that feels appropriate for your body and gradually build from there as your strength, fitness and confidence improve.

I’ve worked with people at many different starting points, and I’ve seen how quickly things can change when you have the right guidance, a plan that feels manageable and someone in your corner.

You don’t have to know what to do or be in great shape to get started.

That’s my job.

What if I have an old injury, pain or physical limitation?

That’s something we can work with.

Your program is designed around your body, your current abilities and what you want to be able to do. We’ll look at where you are starting from and adapt exercises when needed so you can train safely, confidently and effectively.

Adapting exercise to the individual has been an important part of my training and experience from the beginning. While completing my kinesiology degree, I worked in cardiac rehabilitation, where I learned how to adapt exercise strategies for people with different abilities, limitations and starting points. That experience shaped the way I approach personal training today.

I’ve worked with many clients who have old injuries, physical limitations or movements that don’t feel quite right. The goal isn’t to ignore those things or let them stop you from exercising—it’s to find ways to keep you moving and getting stronger.

As your strength and confidence improve, we can gradually expand what your body is capable of doing.

Can online personal training really work for weight loss?

Absolutely. Online personal training doesn’t mean doing it on your own.

You’ll receive one-to-one coaching, a personalized training program, nutrition guidance, accountability and ongoing adjustments based on your goals, your body and your progress.

We meet online so I can coach you through your workouts, answer questions, review your progress and make changes when needed. Your program is built specifically for you—not pulled from a generic workout app or template.

And because I work with you one-to-one, I get to know you, your body, your challenges and what you’re working toward. That allows me to continually adapt your training and coaching as you progress.

The quality of coaching doesn’t get lost online. You still have a coach who knows you, supports you and is there to help you keep moving forward—wherever you are.
